With Windows 7, you can set up several different user names and passwords, along with an Administrator password to access everything. While this is a smart security move, it can go awry when you forget your password. For security and legality reasons, Microsoft does not offer any way for you to do Windows 7 password reset. However, legal third party software can help you by running thousands of passwords until it pairs one up with yours, recovering your password and providing access to Windows 7.
Solution 1: Take a Freeware Password Recovery Tool
Step 1: Locate a password recovery program for Windows 7, such as Ophcrack, Windows Key or Cain & Abel (see Resources). Click the "Download" link next to the program, then click "Save File" in the dialog box.
Step 2:Open the program by clicking the program icon on your desktop, then clicking "Install." Launch the program when installation is complete.
Step 3:Select your Windows 7 user name in the menu and click "Recover." Wait while the program attempts to find a matching pair for your password.
Solution 2: Use a Windows 7 Installation Disc for Recovery
